The controversial development proposed at 211 Lamar (it’s the Taco Cabana lot on Lamar at Barton Springs), passed the Planning Commission by a 5-3 vote. Developers aim to put a 96-foot tall building on a site currently zoned for a 65-foot height limit. Neighbors are concerned to say the least. City Council will hear the case on June 20 (today) August 8.
The Austin-American Statesman reports that the Four Seasons Residences are sold out. The 148-unit tower has all units sold or under contract with pending sales.
The Chronicle talks restaurant design and Austin’s maturing food scene, “with a growing sense of sophistication about the art of eating well.” In related news, highly anticipated new restaurants Mettle and Qui are now open.
